Unfortunately, we are not currently taking on any new volunteers (due to the new ‘rule of 6’ law introduced recently by the government) until we can put a plan into place and make the necessary adjustments to accommodate both our existing volunteer team and welcome new members to it.
We really hope we can work around this and meet you all to discuss volunteering roles at the sanctuary in the near future.
Thank you for your understanding in these difficult and frustrating times.
*Volunteers always required for our Elstree and Radlett fields. Unfortunately, we are unable to take on volunteers at our Sundon site as we are unable to provide supervision there.* - Please note that we are unable to take on any new volunteers at the moment for the reasons stated above.
*We are currently taking on new volunteers aged 18 and over.* - Please note that we are unable to take on any new volunteers at the moment for the reasons stated above.
No horse/pony/yard care experience required if you're willing to learn. The job can be physical so please bear this in mind (hay and straw pushing, mucking out stables, field poo picking, moving horse food and water buckets, horse grooming, etc, in all weathers!).
You will be required to visit the sanctuary for an induction session to chat to the founder, Julie, and a couple our volunteers. This is for you to get a feel of the sanctuary and to see what the work may entail. If you're still interested, please complete a volunteer form (will be given to you on site) and hand it over to one of our volunteers or Julie.
In future, we will be looking at accepting volunteers aged 14 and over. However, all volunteers aged 16 and under will need to have their parent/guardians permission (signature on the form). Parent/guardians will also need to volunteer with their charge for the first few sessions so that all parties know what the voluntary work entails.
Contact us if you want to volunteer.
